Section 7 of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) protects an individual team member’s right to engage – or not to engage – in union support, membership, and other protected concerted activities. The rights of union supporters are well known, but the rights of those who do not support a union or who are unsure are not discussed as often.
Each of you have the right to …
- support or not to support a union
- learn all the facts about a union, including facts the union may not want you to know
- ask questions
- speak for yourself
- work in an environment where team members work together on the same team and not as on different teams
- not sign a union authorization card
- not listen to union organizers or supporters
- not be bothered at home, at work, or by phone by union organizers and supporters
- speak out against the union’s attempt to organize your hospital or facility
- and let your feelings be known to others, whatever they may be

There is a value to each of the rights you have now — please exercise them.
